Blog: We Do Our Best Thinking On a Bike...

Happy Birthday to us!

Bike Therapy has officially surpassed its one-year mark, and it is a great time to reflect on this fantastic first year. Thank you, Morgan Hill, for the warm welcome and this year of fun rides, post-ride schmoozing, new friends, and new bikes! We love the community we now call home!

Thank you, especially, to our amazing staff! None of this would have been possible without the passion and dedication that these fantastic people bring to the shop with them every day. Everyone has stepped up and made Bike Therapy feel like their own and created the inviting environment that it is! This great group of friends feels like our extended family and we could not be prouder or feel luckier with the great crew that calls Bike Therapy theirs.

One of our main goals in opening Bike Therapy was to create the best imaginable community hub for cycling in Morgan Hill. We’ve worked to make a home for riders of all ages, levels and varieties. We quickly adopted the Tuesday Night Road Ride and added a Thursday Night MTB ride for beginner and advanced riders. Every Saturday morning, a dozen or so show up for a no-drop ride on these gorgeous roads.  Our monthly women’s road rides have created some great friendships and sometimes incorporate yoga, coffee or (next year!) wine.

Our Holiday Lights Ride at Christmas was a huge success and we had several families who still haven’t stopped telling how much they enjoyed it (expect more events like this!).  We absolutely loved hosting all of the activities around the Amgen Tour of California: Morgan Hill’s first-ever Bike Party, the ATOC Kick-Off Concert/Bike Rodeo (co-hosted with Specialized), The Mother’s Day Ride with The Mayor and Pancake Breakfast and day-of fun at the Expo and in the store.

Starting last September with a ribbon cutting and grand opening party, we hosted “rained out” MTB parties, Tour de France viewing parties and post-ride recovery gatherings. September’s flat-fix clinic and beginning repair classes were very popular and will become regular events at the shop. We participated in the Downtown Association’s Wine Stroll and Morgan Hill’s Where’s Waldo summer scavenger hunt, provided ride support for the District Cyclocross Championships and iCare Classic, and hosted an AIDS Life/Cycle info session.

We are proud of all that we have accomplished, and excited about bringing more great events to our community.  Our greatest joy is keeping this town pedaling and seeing everyone have more fun on bikes. We want to thank you all for the tremendous support and we can’t wait to keep the fun rolling. Cheers to you and happy birthday to us!
